Startup costs are all dependent on getting your state license, since we only hire licensed agents.

Here's a breadown:

• Prelicensing Course: $150
• State Exam Fee (varies state to state, but it's about $100)
• State License Fee (varies state to state, but it's about $100)
• E&O (Errors & Omissions) Insurance which is the professional liability insurance required by financial service professionals: About $400/year and you can spread that cost out.

Total varies state to state, but it's about $750 to get licensed, insured, and legally set up to do business.

Jim will recommend having working capital of around $2000 to fund the learning curve.

Any of 4 places:

1. Warm Market: Friends and Family
2. Sphere of Influence: Acquaintances, Referrals, Co-Workers, Friends of Friends
3. Paid Advertising: Either your own ads, or (as most of us leverage) leads purchased from approved vendors who run the advertising for you and hand you qualified prospects.
4. Cold Market: Think door knocking or cold calling.

Individual leads range in cost from 50 cents to $80.

What you're paying for with leads is:

• Level of Interest (the more interested the potential client, the more the lead costs)
• Amount of Info (the more information the client offered on their situation, the more the lead costs)
• Recency of Acquisition (the more recent their request, the more the lead costs)

An "expensive" lead will be one that has a high interest, a lot of volunteered info, that made their request recently.

A cheap lead will either be low interest, not much info, and/or they made their request a long time ago.

We encourage new agents to spend about $250/week on leads for their first 6 weeks, and then we adjust depending on profitability.

It costs you nothing to write business on clients you find on your own.

Leads, however, cost a lot of money to generate. There is no company in the world that is spending money to generate quality leads and giving those leads to new agents who haven't demonstrated the grit or skillset to close those leads.

Any place that offers "free" leads are either paying a VERY SMALL commission on sales, or offering very cheap leads.

Jim's expectation is for every agent to be making $10k/month within their first 4 months.

This is largely up to you, but the process looks like this:

1. Complete the prelicensing course in no more than 14 days.
2. Sit for the state exam
3. Assuming you pass, apply for your state license (turnaround time is roughly a week, but varies)
4. Apply to work with us officially once you have your license.
5. Initiate contracting with the different insurance companies (turnaround time is 1-2 weeks depending on the company)
6. Onboard (scripts, sales coaching, skillset practice) while waiting for contracts.

You can be selling policies in roughly one month from the time you start the prelicense course.
